About Kay

Kay graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Ceramic Design from Falmouth College of Art in 1999.

Kay has run ceramics sessions and courses for various educational institutions in Cornwall, and accessible pottery workshops throughout the southwest.

Her work has been shown at:

  • London Design Centre, 2000
  • Platter Exhibition, Melbourne, 2001
  • Open Studios at The Old Bakery Studios, Truro and Krowji, Redruth – between 2007 and 2019
  • Number Four Gallery, St Abbs, 2024

Kay’s sculptures originate from her time living in Shetland – where she was surrounded by vast colonies of sea birds and migrant birds – and have developed following visits to Skomer in Pembrokeshire and the Isle of May off the coast of Fife. Her sculptures are predominantly white stoneware with fine molochite, and she works in a range of firing and glazing techniques, including low-fired crackle glazes.

Currently living and working in Fife, Kay continues to work in ceramic, whilst also developing her interest in printmaking techniques.

Since 2023 Kay has participated in Pittenweem’s annual Art Festival – she’s back in 2025 with a new array of ceramic sculptures and prints.
